Tony Wright is the General Manager at FORCE. With over 24 years of combined marine related technical and operational experience, Mr. Wright lead installation of marine common facilities at the FORCE site and is the project lead developing FORCE’s research program.
Simon Melrose is currently project manager of the FAST program for FORCE. Prior to FORCE, he served as NS manager for Oceans Ltd, Canada’s largest marine weather and oceanographic company, where he led the mapping of the tidal resource in the Minas Passage.
FORCE is Canada’s lead facility for in-stream tidal turbines, and acts as a catalyst to the safe development of this new clean energy technology. Tony and Simon will present an update on the FORCE project highlighting R&D advancements of the FAST (Fundy Advanced Sensor Technology) Program. The need for reliable site data has led to the creation of new subsea monitoring platforms – designed to work reliably in the hurricane-like conditions of the Minas Passage. These platforms support new ways of capturing data in high flows, improving both turbine development and environmental monitoring.
